The Pirate Fairy Available on Blu-ray Combo Pack on April 1st

From the world of “Peter Pan” comes “The Pirate Fairy,” a swashbuckling new adventure about Zarina (voice of Christina Hendricks), a smart and ambitious dust-keeper fairy who’s captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities. When Zarina’s wild ideas get her into trouble, she flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock, who make her captain of their ship. Tinker Bell (voice of Mae Whitman) and her friends must embark on an epic adventure to find Zarina, and together they go sword-to-sword with the band of pirates led by a cabin boy named James (voice of Tom Hiddleston), who’ll soon be known as Captain Hook himself. With laughter, heart, magic and thrills, “The Pirate Fairy” sets sail April 1, 2014.

Princesses and fairies are big in our house.  While I was at work the other day I happened to come across a book that was all about Zarina the Pirate Fairy.  My girls were so excited to read all about her and the first thing that they asked after reading the book was "Mommy, when can we watch the movie".  I received our review copy and kept it as a surprise and they were so excited to watch it.  They were mesmerized from start to finish and it even had my husband paying attention.  Fairy Gary was a favorite of his, he definitely is not your traditional fairy and definitely the father figure for the young fairies!  As for myself, Tink has always been mine, but I believe Zarina is definitely a close second!  My girls love them all and will tell you a different fairy depending on the day or the mood they are in.

Do you have a favorite fairy??  What do you think about The Pirate Fairy?

Book Review and Giveaway : It Had to be You by Susan May Warren

About the Book:

A Christensen Family Novel.

Eden Christiansen never imagined her role as her younger brother Owen's cheerleader would keep her on the sidelines of her own life. Sure, it feels good to be needed, but looking after the reckless NHL rookie leaves little time for Eden to focus on her own career. She dreamed of making a name for herself as a reporter, but is stuck writing obits---and starting to fear she doesn't have the chops to land a major story. If only someone would step up to mentor Owen . . . but she knows better than to expect help from team veteran and bad-boy enforcer Jace Jacobsen.
Jace has built his career on the infamous reputation of his aggressive behavior---on and off the ice. Now at a crossroads about his future in hockey, that reputation has him trapped. And the guilt-trip he's getting from Eden Christiansen isn't making things any easier. But when Owen's carelessness leads to a career-threatening injury and Eden stumbles upon a story that could be her big break, she and Jace are thrown together . . . and begin to wonder if they belong on the same team after all.

My Review of the Book:

This was the first book that I have read by Susan May Warren.  I do have to say that after finishing the book I was a little disappointed that this was the first book of hers that I read and even more disappointed that I did not read the first book about the Christiansen family.  Although as they do all stand alone I do love the fact that I can still read it in any order at all and not feel out of the loop or have the feeling of déjà vu.

Personally I find that there is nothing worse then reading a book and being able to predict what is going to happen throughout it.  Do not get me wrong, I love to relate to the characters, but I do not want to read the book and feel as though the story line has happened before.  I can say this definitely was not the case with this book.  It was entertaining and can say it honestly kept me up later then normal a few nights.  I just did not want to put the book down at all.

Eden Christiansen I found extremely loveable from the beginning.  As a mother I do have to say I love feeling needed.  I love knowing that I am in their corner and if they ask I am there for them.  However, I do understand that they are their own person and will have different dreams and desires then I do.  Which is why I believe it is important that I have my own hobbies and passions.  Although, I am their mother not their sibling and I felt as if that was a little too much for Eden to have to feel.  I can not imagine either one of my daughters having to feel that towards their sibling.  Eden definitely had my compassion and a little bit of my pity as well.

Jace...Now he is a completely different situation.  I totally agree about not judging a book by its cover, but I also feel that one should not act a certain way just because others expect you to be a certain way.  Jace to myself was a great reminder to be true to yourself and those who truly matter.  However, what is also important to mention is that I was guilty of judging Jace as well by his reputation.  So clearly I am far from perfect as well.

Overall I really enjoyed this book so go purchase the book, some tissue and sit back for some entertaining reading that you will not regret.

MemorWe Mobile App Review

I have to admit, I love playing games on my iPad.  Though a lot of the time I spend time playing games that kill time and really do not do anything for my brain.  This is one of the things that I loved about the MemorWe Mobile App.  Not only is it fun and entertaining, but  it is great for your brain as well.  I also love quotes and loved at the end of each game I received a new one to read! Every quote was inspirational and a great reward even if I did not beat my precious score!

I haven't played against any of my friends yet, maybe deep down I am wanting to get better so I don't look like I can not remember anything.  If you ask my coworkers they will probably tell you that my memory skills definitely need some improvement! Of course, I have saved the best piece of information for last!  What is even better is the app is free! Yes, that is right!!  FREE!!!! You can download and play it and not have to worry what it will cost you!  So why not download it and give it a try!  I know your brain will thank you!!

This super-fun, inspirational card game lets you see how good your memory is or go head to head with your friends to see who has the better memory.

There are two great ways to play:

1. Shortest time: Can you match all the cards faster than everyone else or better than your best time?

2. Accuracy: Anyone can go fast, but will you be the one to match all the cards perfectly? Many have tried, but none have gotten 100% accuracy yet!

Are you looking for ways to make the game even more fun? We have over a dozen card decks to choose from so that you can pick the one that fits you best! Plus, if you’re stuck, we’ve got power-ups to help lower your times and increase your accuracy! Try them all to see which one works best for you!  You will need a Game Center account to play against your friends. Game Center is free, it comes with your iPhone and it only takes a few moments to set up your account!

Against the Wild Review and Giveaway (US & CAN)

This action-packed feature film tells the dramatic tale of two siblings and their Alaskan Malamute, who must make an emergency landing when their small plane has engine problems. They find themselves in a beautiful but potentially dangerous natural environment that they must overcome together. Written and directed by Richard Boddington, starring CJ Adams (The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Dan in Real Life), Erin Pitt (Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam and the upcoming American Girl: Isabelle Dances into the Spotlight) and Natasha Henstridge (“She Spies,” The Whole Nine Yards) and co-starring John Tench (Tooth Fairy), the film makes its national retail and digital debut on March 11, 2014.

A gripping adventure for the whole family, Against the Wild (SRP $24.98) begins with siblings Zach (Adams) and Hannah (Pitt) traveling by seaplane with Chinook, their Alaskan Malamute, to visit their father (Ted Whittall of “Beauty & The Beast”) for the weekend. When their plane encounters engine trouble, the pilot is forced to make an emergency landing in the woods in the middle of nowhere. As they travel on foot to seek help, Zach, Hannah and their loyal companion come face-to-face with the challenges of the wilds – from wolves and grizzly bears to forest fires. Using all the wilderness skills they know – and with some help from Chinook, the siblings must work together to overcome each obstacle and conquer the ultimate goal – returning home again.
An exciting, fast-paced adventure with beautiful cinematography and a stirring musical score performed by a live 65-piece orchestra in Prague, Against the Wild will keep the whole family on the edge of their seat from start to finish.

Against the Wild
has been approved for all ages by the Dove Foundation, which awarded the film with 5/5 Doves, and recommends it as “a terrific film for the entire family!  I have to say that I agree fully with their review!  My children who are 5 and 7 could not take their eyes off of the movie.  My eldest has a very active imagination so we are always cautious with what movies she watches in the evening.  As from experience anything too terrifying or scary for her can lead to a sleepless night in our home.  I am happy to say that there were no issues at all in our home.  She was able to watch it and was not scared in the least.  The suspense had her asking questions through out and rather then just sitting and watching the movie it had her thinking through it.  What is even better is outside of my eldest we as a family as a whole enjoyed it and definitely recommend it!!

My Dog the Champion wants to come home with you!

About the Movie:

"From the city to the country, families from coast-to-coast will experience an uplifting coming-of-age adventure when Anchor Bay Entertainment unleashes My Dog the Champion on DVD. The inspiring story of an unlikely friendship between a born-and-bred teenage city girl and a cattle dog, the new feature film starring Dora Madison Burge (“Dexter,” “Friday Night Lights,”Cowgirls ‘n Angels), Lance Henriksen (Aliens, The Terminator, Aliens vs. Predator) and Cody Linley (“Hannah Montana,”Cheaper by the Dozen) makes its national retail debut on February 4, 2014.

A moving and meaningful story for the whole family, My Dog the Champion (SRP $24.98) begins when Madison (Burge), a spoiled city teen, learns that her mother is being deployed to Afghanistan. She is suddenly forced to uproot to the country and live on her grandfather Billy’s (Henriksen) cattle ranch – in the middle of nowhere. Facing the hardships of farm life and her feelings of loneliness, she befriends Scout, the farm’s old and “useless” cattle dog. The new companions quickly form a special bond. And when the family farm becomes threatened, Madison, with some help from Eli (Linley), a teenage dog trainer, trains Scout to be an agility champion and together they compete with the hope of saving their home. Side by side, the determined duo proves the heart of a champion never dies.

My Dog the Champion, a story of friendship, love, teamwork, and challenges, is a must-have release for families nationwide. The film is executive produced by Arthur E. Benjamin, the founder of the American Dog Rescue, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that works to rescue and promote the health and well-being of dogs and other animals all across the world. In addition, Scout, the movie’s starring dog, is herself a rescue!"

My Review:

Having young girls it is important for our family that we choose television shows and movies that are age appropriate and without a doubt suitable for them.  With all honesty a lot of the times this is almost impossible unless its a cartoon I find.  Do not get me wrong, I love cartoons, but sometimes it is nice to be able to watch a movie with humans actors in it.

Since receiving My Dog the Champion to review our family has watched it many times.  Normally we  would not have that much time, but due to our home being hit by the flu we have had quite a few days of bed rest which means ample television time!  My Dog the Champion  is a great family movie that the whole family will love.  No matter if you are a dog love like me or if you just like great wholesome entertainment then this movie is for you.
