Lila Mae and Amelia are a duo of characters that have entertaining bantering. From the bonding of friends over hot chocolate to the intricate relationships of three sisters. It was very vividly written where I actually could hear the dialogue in my head.
I began the book and for the first couple chapters it was difficult as I was easily distracted away from it. I was not entirely captivated at first and wondered at the slow pace, highly detailed timeline and actual plot lines. Slowly I became entrenched in this world as the characters evolved. When the waves of the plots began to ripple it became so exciting I couldn't put it down. I read late into the night in an effort to figure out the mystery. I was also simultaneously intrigued by the characters style of drinking hot chocolate (appropriately named book!) that while I wrote this review I tried my first hot chocolate with marshmallow cream. I am now hooked just like the characters in the book! What a treat to find other recipes at the back of the book too!
I haven't read many books with heroines who are a bit older than me, but after reading this book my outlook on choosing books to read has changed.
I look forward to reading the highly anticipated release of Bitter Chocolate on its arrival in July 2014!
